WE ARE ONE – 2018

This art piece was created for the first Awareness Moluccan Identity exhibition event on 7th of October 2018. It was a magical day full of love and positive energy both from the artist as well as from the visitors.

The art piece is about the purity of our soul, our spiritual an physical journey, our identity at the root of the family tree, our connection with our ancestors, our connection with the universe, our connection with the world we live in with the four elements earth water wind and fire. Wherever we go, we always are guided and protected by our ancestors. It forms the root of our soul! 

I’ve been working on and off on this drum for several years. Occasionally “upgrading” it a bit. For the last AMI mahai exhibition, I’ve not only painted the new skin, but also made new wedges and made some shell inlays on the side of the drum.
