Short Documentary in the making

In 2023/2024, Hatutamelen received a one-year talent development grant from Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie NL. With the help of this scholarship, he was given the opportunity to capture his artistic process through a short Documentary. “Revival of Moluccan Symbolism and Woodcarving” is the working title Hatutamelen has started out with, but it is becoming so much more than just capturing a woodcarving proces.

Hatutamelen partnered up with Video Producer/Director Geraldo Solisa to create this short documentary. It has been quite a journey so far. A creative journey that has brought a lot of insights, including insights about rest and time.

Rest and time are two things that we as people in western society often struggle with. We lose ourselves in a world with a 24-hour economy, constant stimuli, temptation and stress. It became a theme in the filming process.

We often don’t get enough rest and we overfill our time.

Now a year in the process, the filming days are almost over. and the editing stage has begun.

The aim isto release the documentary in 2026. If you would like to be kept informed of news regarding the documentary, please leave your name and email address at the end of this page.
